Reflexology
Reflexology is a holistic treatment which works on the principle that both the physical and emotional body are reflected on the feet. As a reflexologist and Podiatrist I endeavour to reach the cause of a problem, be it physical or emotional, rather than just treat the presenting symptoms of a condition.
Reflexology involves applying specific techniques using thumbs and fingers, to areas of imbalance to help stimulate the body’s own healing response and bring it back to a state of balance. This is done by stimulating the central nervous system by sending signals up the spine to the brain, and activating the healing process. By allowing our body to achieve it’s natural balance we help our bodies to fight off illness and maximize well being.
With life’s ever increasing levels of stress, it is so important for us to take more responsibility for our own health care needs. Receiving regular reflexology treatments may be one of the ways in which we can achieve this.
Reflexology however, is not a substitute for conventional medicine but complements it perfectly. It is a non-invasive complementary health therapy which can be received by anyone of any age from new born baby, to teenager through to people receiving palliative care at the end of their lives.
